Community Investment Tax Credit Program (CITC)

If you have at least $500 to contribute, become a CITC donor!

Donors* who contribute at least $1,000 to HCA can use the Community Investment Tax Credit (CITC) to get a 50% rebate on their gift when they file their state taxes in Massachusetts!

If you donate $2,000 you will get $1,000 back. If you donate $10,000, you will get $5,000 back. It’s that simple.

After you make your donation, you will receive instructions on how to log in and complete a simple online form. Then you will receive a document that you will use when you file your state taxes. Even if you don’t owe any taxes, you will receive the 50% rebate back from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

CITC is designed to help you invest in your community.  In 2025, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts awarded HCA $275,000 in credits. Your donation using HCA’s CITC creates and maintains new and existing affordable housing developments, supports families remain stable and housed with our Homelessness Prevention Program, helps local tenants advocate for improving and expanding affordable housing within HCA and the Town of Arlington, and provides other vital social services to low income families such as housing search, financial literacy education, and assistance in accessing social security benefits, fuel assistance, food, mental health counseling and more. You can read our latest CITC Community Investment Plan here.

*Donations from Donor Advised Funds do not qualify the donor for the CITC tax rebate. Consider making your HCA gift from another account to get the CITC benefit.
